Drug Rehabilitation Clinics
Most people are unsure as to the best course of action to take when seeking treatment for a drug addiction. Although many will believe a course of out-patient therapy sessions will suffice, most will actually benefit from an in-patient residential stay at a drug rehabilitation clinic. First4Rehab works with a range of clinics in both the UK and overseas and as such, can help you find the most appropriate drug rehabilitation clinic to meet your personal needs and circumstances.

Most drug rehabilitation clinics offer a variety of therapeutic services, ranging from an initial detoxification through to follow-up aftercare, once the client has completed their residential stay. Along with primary residential treatment, many drug rehabilitation clinics provide secondary and tertiary care for those requiring a longer-term stay. Treatment can range from a minimum of two weeks, to as long as a year, although the recommended length of stay is approximately six to twelve weeks.

What are the Benefits of a Drug Rehabilitation Clinic?
Drug abuse is a very serious illness, and as such it is important that treatment is provided in a safe and structured environment that can provide the necessary medical and psychological support required. A drug detoxification can be extremely dangerous if unsupervised, and so it is of paramount importance that fully qualified nursing and medical staff are available to undertake and supervise the detoxification. Drug rehabilitation clinics offer the services of fully qualified staff, often on a 24-hour basis; these include skilled addiction therapists, psychotherapists, specialist nursing staff and support workers, along with visiting or in-house GP’s and Consultant Psychiatrists.

What will the Rehabilitation Programme Consist of?
Most drug rehabilitation programmes are based around the Twelve Step Minnesota Model as founded by Alcoholics Anonymous; it is regarded as the most successful form of therapy for the treatment of drugs, alcohol and other addictions. It is usually carried out in the form of group therapy sessions and involves admitting to oneself that they are powerless over their addiction, examining past mistakes and making amends for these errors. The programme provides the individual with the tools to learn a new way of life, free from addictive substances. Free aftercare is available for life, worldwide in the form of Fellowship meetings such as AA (Alcoholics Anonymous), NA (Narcotics Anonymous) and OA (Overeaters Anonymous), to name but a few.

Another favoured treatment programme is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This form of treatment is a psychotherapeutic approach that aims to influence dysfunctional emotions and behaviours through a goal oriented, systematic procedure. It is extremely effective in the treatment of eating disorders, depression and mood and anxiety disorders. It is usually carried out in the form of one-to-one therapy as well as group settings, and techniques are often adapted for self-help applications.

Whilst there are still a number of clinics that run individual programmes, more and more are now using both the Twelve Step approach, whilst also incorporating elements of CBT.

How Much will it Cost?
Drug Rehabilitation Clinics vary in cost considerably. Prices start from under £500 per week, rising to £10,000 per week for a more exclusive clinic. Lower priced treatment centres (quasi-residential units) usually run twelve week programmes, although shorter lengths of stay are available upon request. You can expect to pay anything from £3,000 for a four week stay, up to approximately £7,000 for twelve weeks in a low cost clinic. Full residential rehab units start from approximately £2,000 per week, although this is considerably cheaper in a number of overseas clinics. First4Rehab can often secure exceptional discounts on these rates due to our large buying power, thus saving you thousands of pounds on you or your loved one’s treatment.
